Special features in the case of nesting emergency medical services
The income of doctors from activities in the ambulance service is exempt, under certain conditions, from compulsory social insurance. This is without prejudice to the obligation to pay contributions in Saxony’s medical care system.
Condition
Doctors who carry out or are established outside the ambulance service in addition to an existing occupation (of at least 15 hours per week) are exempt from compulsory social insurance. The rules apply to emergency medical activities in the ambulance service agreed after 16 February 2017. Primary professional activities of an emergency doctor are excluded.
